Ive heard so many good things about that mod so Im really excited to finally try it out. I reccenly rebought Medieval 2 on steam (lost my disc years ago) and downloaded Stainless Steel for the first time. They are still low-poly models made by milkshape.ĭifferent levels of lod-mesh files are also under plans currently.Ĭurrent plans potentially 7. Ive been playing total war for very many years now. Focus is tought to keep them balanced with performance/visuals, and many units, like Nubians below, will have close polycount to vanilla models.
Models wise they will have higher poly/vertice count, and have more complex variations, so they will be bigger in file sizes, and bigger load on performance. I use same texture sheet sizes as vanilla does, so actual file sizes are the same, but with focus on better uvmapping, which leads higher resolution textures on units in-game, this will have impact on performance. Stainless Steel was first started as a mod for Medieval 2: Total War (v4.1 and lower), but it switched over to Kingdoms after the expansion was released. Will this change have impact on performance? This preview is not presentative of it, just to showcase visual work on units. This is work in progress content, and may change, and propably will during development. Research is being done regarding that alongside visual work. The selection of the appropriate stainless steel grade for each applic ation is the result of variou s considerations. But first release might be with SSHIP-submod.
